Il Trinity College Dublin è stato fondato nel 1592 ed è la più antica università d'Irlanda. Il campus principale si trova nel cuore di Dublino, a pochi minuti a piedi da Grafton Street, dal Dáil e dalla maggior parte del centro città. Con i suoi circa 47 acri, è abbastanza compatto da girarlo tutto a piedi, cosa che, una volta che ci vivi, fa più differenza di quanto penseresti.
Il TCD si colloca intorno all'81° posto in Europa e circa al 160° a livello mondiale nel QS 2024. In Irlanda è costantemente primo o secondo, a seconda del sistema di ranking. È l'unico membro irlandese della League of European Research Universities e una delle due università irlandesi nella top 200 sia del QS che del Times Higher Education.
La biblioteca Long Room, che conserva circa 200.000 tra i libri più antichi del TCD tra cui il Book of Kells, è uno degli edifici universitari più riconoscibili al mondo.
